Posted By ALISON LANGLEY, REVIEW STAFF WRITER Posted 8 hours agoTenants at a Chippawa townhouse complex are rallying together in support of a two-month-old infant who continues to fight for her life at a Hamilton hospital. The child remains in critical condition at McMaster General Hospital after suffering what police have described as "grave" injuries. "She's a beautiful, beautiful little girl and she is fighting so hard to stay with us," said Chantal Poudrier, who lives in the same Willoughby Drive complex as the injured child's parents and grandparents. Poudrier and Shelley Murdock have organized two fundraisers this weekend to raise money for the baby they know as Cassidy. A charity barbecue will be held Saturday from 10 a. m. until 2 p. m. at Chippawa Foodland. Owners Bob and Marie Middlemiss have donated food and supplies. The following day, residents at the complex will host a yard sale/bake sale and raffles from 11 a. m. until 4 p. m. All monies raised will be placed in a trust account for the infant's grandparents. "This little girl is going to need ongoing care. Whether or not something comes out from the police investigation, she is still going to need care," Murdock said, wearing a yellow and white ribbon of hope in support of the child. Murdock said she understands what the family is going through. Her daughter Mikiya, now three, was born were severe health problems and spent three-and-a-half months at McMaster. "When you're sitting in front of your child not knowing if she child is going to live or die, you are on cloud doom," she said. The child remains in critical condition at McMaster General Hospital after suffering what police have described as “grave” injuries. “She’s a beautiful, beautiful little girl and she is fighting so hard to stay with us,” said Chantal Poudrier who lives in the same Willoughby Drive complex as the injured child’s parents and grandparents. Some people are just so sick... I can never understand any hurt or pain inflicted upon an innocent child--esp a baby who is helpless and can only depend on those around her. I don't live in the Hamilton area, but I hope your fundraiser is a huge success. Praying for the little girl, and that she will know love and have someone who loves her unconditionally. Praying for God's hand to intervene. Thank you Shelley for being someone to stand in the gap of need; for having a loving heart.
Thanks CYL,your words always bring a tear to my eye,the baby is in a hamilton hospital,i live in niagara falls, and the fundraiser was here in the falls.
