It's a medical fact that when a child is born early and has chronic lung disease, that they face a long path until they are at least 10 years old.
Sometime around there is when the lungs have finished growing new tissue.
Of course new problems can pop up at anytime and this list of complications is forever growing.
Heart complications can haunt a parent for the rest of their lives, lung issue's can arise until adult hood and into adult hood.
Any head or brain issue's may not become apparent until later in life.
Eating dissorder's can affect the child until adult hood as well.
There are bone issue's and skin problems that one can face,as well as differen't hair growth pattern's.
And of course you face having a child that has become addicted to medication's whilst in NICU,some med's that your child may be come immune to,and again some med's that you may never be able to use, like simple tylenol should never be given to a preemie, especially one with kidney bladder and liver issue's, the main reason for non tylenol use is for babe's with chronic lung disease, because tylenol is a synthecate it can cause breathing problems and cause the underdeveloped lungs to become swollen wich will cause crackling in babe's with hypoplastic lung disease, motrin is also another dangerous medication for a preemie.
So now your thinking well ok what can i use...what is safe?
In normal doses,Tempra is your best bet as it does not contain synthecates and does not leave a residue in the liver.
NEVER use ASPIRIN...unless of course directed by your doctor as ASPIRIN is used on many heart patients for stems of differen't reasons,so unless your doctors gives the ok,don't even buy it.
Mant parents of preemie's face baby's with addiction,it however can be over come, unless you have a doctor who likes to push medications for every problem.
Most prem's come addicted to morphine and sucrose,as that is what they are given most while in neo,but don't fret.
When there is no consoling your prem, try running a sucker accross their lips, just so they get a little fix,but remember tooth decay can happen still whilst there are no teeth,so remember to clean abay's gums at night.
